Potter Class (Reception)

Hello and welcome to Potter Class.

 Ms Handling and Mrs Pollock

Be the best you can be!

GEM of the Week:

EMERALD- RESILIENCE.

Our Topic this term is

Fantastic Food

As the  Entry Point to our topic the children looked at labels on some fruit packaging and talked about which country it had come from.

We decided to make a fruit salad and we looked at a recipe.

They followed the instructions, washing their hands first. Using knives they chopped the fruit up and put it in the bowl and stirred it. they then sat together and ate their fruit salad.

Our International Primary Curriculum topic this half term is called ‘Fantastic Food'.

The children are going to be learning all about food.

The role play area has been set up as café in the classroom

They will:

  •  Make pictures of food
  • Use food to print with
  • Use clay to make foods
  • Find out where food comes from

As part of our exit point at the end of this topic the children will be thinking about organising a 'Tea Party', deciding what to eat and preparing the food. More information about this will be sent nearer the time.

Reading, phonics and writing remain a key priority for us this term, as we continue to drive progress in these areas. A huge thank you for supporting your child with their reading and homework at home; I am delighted that most children are completing their homework and reading at home each night.

Reading Books changed on Monday and Friday.
