Dear Parents and Carers,

Following my communication with you yesterday, I want to update you and let you know that we will open only for the most vulnerable pupils and the children of key workers on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th January. We will provide home learning (online) for all other pupils on these days.

We will continue over the course of the next two days to improve our procedures in line with the risk assessments that we are currently updating in light of the new strain of the virus and the Tier 4 category that we all now find ourselves in.

Teachers will move to online home learning on Tuesday and Wednesday and your child’s classteacher will be in contact with further details. Our dedicated teachers are well prepared for this and will ensure your child receives the best possible teaching. The children of Key Workers, and vulnerable pupils in school will have the same learning as those at home.

We are open on Tuesday and Wednesday to the most vulnerable pupils and the children of Key workers from 8.30am to 4pm:

VULNERABLE PUPILS:

We already have lists of vulnerable pupils and will also carry out a review of current pupil needs, using national guidance. New categories include pupils who are adopted, subject to a special guardianship order or who have been recently referred to Children’s Services.

CHILDREN OF KEY WORKERS:

Key Workers are those who work in:

  • Health and social care
  • Education and childcare
  • Key public services
  • Local and national government
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Public safety and national security
  • Transport and border services
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

If you fall into any of the above categories and require a place tomorrow or Wednesday in the hub then please email admin@yewdale.cumbria.sch.uk or call the school office 01228 830036 by 3pm today to allow us to plan the provision.

We will be in touch regarding pupils entitled to free school meals as soon as we can, I completely understand that this is not an ideal situation, but working together we can ensure that our children, staff and community remain as safe as possible and that pupils continue to receive high quality education. Please contact school if you need further information or reassurance.

Kind Regards

Mrs G Brierley
