Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the announcement last night we will move into a National Lockdown which comes into force on Wednesday 6th January 2021.
During the period of the national lockdown Yewdale School will remain open to vulnerable pupils and the children of critical workers only. All other children will be taught remotely until February half term.
Vulnerable Pupils:
We already have lists of vulnerable pupils and will also carry out a review of current pupil needs, using national guidance.
Critical Workers:
Those who work in:
- Health and social care
- Education and childcare
- Key public services
- Local and national government
- Food and other necessary goods
- Public safety and national security
- Transport and border services
- Utilities, communication and financial services
If you fall into any of the above categories and require a place in the hub over the next few weeks then please email admin@yewdale.cumbria.sch.uk as soon as possible. It would be really helpful if you could let us know which days you require each week to allow us to plan staffing requirements. Please remember that children should only attend the hub on the days that you are working.
We will be in touch regarding pupils entitled to free school meals as soon as we can. We are waiting for further guidance from the Department For Education.
Remote learning will be in place for all pupils from today. This learning will take place in a variety of ways that will include some live lessons, recorded lessons and tasks for the children to complete independently. Class teachers will contact you directly with arrangements for your child. It is expected that ALL pupils engage with remote learning. This will ensure that they don’t miss out on vital teaching between now and February. If you don’t have a suitable device at home for your child to access this learning from please contact your class teacher urgently on dojo as we have a limited number of devices that we can loan to you.
The school office will not always have someone available to answer phone calls over the next few weeks so please contact Mrs Stephenson on dojo or on the ‘admin’ email address above with any queries.
We look forward to seeing you all again as soon as we are able to. Stay safe and well over the next few weeks.
Kind Regards
Mrs G Brierley
